Website & Payload CMS Case 12

Farbex

We replaced Farbex's plugin-heavy WordPress shop with a fast Astro site on a custom Payload CMS, turning 326 Caparol products and 2,965 Rasch wallpapers into one catalogue that sends people to the Sarajevo showroom ready to decide.

We gave Farbex a full website redesign and a custom Payload CMS platform that runs two brand worlds from one place. A fast Astro frontend presents Caparol as a technical, system-led catalogue and Rasch as a visual, mood-led one, an inspiration magazine carries the advice the showroom gives in person, and every route ends at the same place: a clear enquiry or a visit to Kolodvorska 11A, with no online checkout getting in the way of the conversation that actually closes the sale.

The Challenge

Farbex was founded in Sarajevo in 2002 and runs a paint and wallpaper showroom carrying Caparol paints and facade systems alongside Rasch wallpaper. Online, that expertise sat inside an ageing WordPress and WooCommerce site held together by sliders, AJAX search, infinite scroll and newsletter plugins, with brochures, colour cards, trends and both brands split into separate corners of the menu.

The two brands could hardly be further apart. A contractor looking for a facade primer wants a system, a data sheet and a quantity. A homeowner looking for wallpaper wants a bedroom that feels right. One catalogue had to hold hundreds of technical products and thousands of wallpaper codes without burying either visitor, and the strongest selection tools still sent people off to external brand sites.

The brief: rebuild Farbex as one platform that keeps each brand distinct, lets the team manage every product and story without a developer, and treats the showroom as the destination, because nobody picks a colour or a wallpaper with full confidence from a screen.

The Approach

We started from how people actually choose. A painter arrives with a job to do, a homeowner arrives with a room in mind, and a returning customer often arrives with a wallpaper code written on a sample. Instead of one long product list, we built a route for each of them, gave each brand its own colour and voice on a shared graphite-and-paper foundation, and put the content system underneath so Farbex can keep it all current on its own.

01

Two Brand Worlds

Caparol and Rasch share one site but never blur into each other. A calm graphite and warm paper foundation holds the whole platform together, while Caparol yellow and Rasch orange mark each brand's pathway, hub and product cards. Archivo headlines and monospace product metadata make the catalogue read like a design publication rather than a building-supplies list, and a visitor always knows which world they are in and how to cross to the other.

02

Discovery by Intent

We designed discovery around the question each visitor brings. Caparol is organised by system and category, from primers and interior paints to facade systems, floor coatings and Histolith heritage products, so professionals reach the right product in a few clicks. Rasch opens five doors at once: collection, style, room, colour and a direct wallpaper-code lookup. Someone holding a sample with a code on it goes straight to that wallpaper; someone who only knows they want something botanical for a living room browses their way there.

03

Custom Payload CMS

Underneath sits a custom Payload CMS on Next.js, modelled around Farbex's real catalogue rather than a generic shop template. Brands, categories, collections, styles, rooms, products, wallpaper codes, articles and media are each structured content, so the team edits a product once and it appears correctly in every listing, filter and related rail. The CMS manages multiple brands from a single admin, and adding the next range is a content job, not a rebuild.

04

Fast Astro Frontend

We replaced the plugin stack with a custom Astro frontend served through Cloudflare, with the Payload API delivering product and editorial images in responsive sizes. Product pages and catalogue routes stay crawlable and cacheable, and a full sitemap covers every Caparol product and every Rasch wallpaper code, so a search for a specific product lands on its own page instead of a search result.

05

Inspiration Magazine

The advice Farbex gives across the counter now lives online. The Inspiracija magazine publishes colour-of-the-year features, wallpaper trends, room ideas and practical guides, from choosing a finish to preparing a facade before painting. Articles sit next to the catalogue, so a reader moves from an idea to the exact paint or wallpaper that makes it real.

06

Showroom as Destination

Farbex.ba is deliberately a catalogue, not a checkout. Colour and wallpaper decisions are made best in person, so instead of pushing a cart we made the showroom the repeated conversion thread: enquiry prompts on product pages, a dedicated enquiry form for product, colour, availability and project questions, and showroom location, hours and map one click away from anywhere on the site.

We sell two brands that have almost nothing in common, and our old site treated them like one long list. Konzept understood that a painter and a homeowner come to us with completely different questions. Now each of them finds their answer quickly, and our team can update the whole catalogue ourselves.

Outcome

Two brand worlds on one fast platform, with every path leading to the showroom.

Contact page with showroom details and enquiry form
Result 01

One Platform

Two very different brands now run from a single CMS and a single site, each with its own identity, without duplicated content or a second system to maintain.

Result 02

Faster Decisions

Professionals find products by system and category, homeowners by collection, style, room or colour, and returning customers by code, so every visitor starts from what they already know.

Result 03

Team in Control

Farbex edits products, collections and magazine articles directly in Payload, so the catalogue stays current without waiting on a developer or wrestling with plugins.

Result 04

Lean Foundation

The plugin-heavy WordPress and WooCommerce stack is gone, replaced by a fast, cacheable Astro frontend and a structured API that is simpler to maintain and to grow.

Result 05

Searchable Catalogue

Every Caparol product and every Rasch wallpaper code has its own indexable page, turning the full range into something people can find from search, not only from the menu.

Result 06

Showroom-Ready Visitors

Inspiration, product detail and enquiry now sit on one path, so people arrive at the salon having already narrowed their choice and ready to talk specifics.

Customers now walk into the showroom with a wallpaper code or a colour already in mind. The conversation starts where it used to end, and that is exactly what we wanted the website to do.

Is your catalogue bigger than your website can handle?

If you sell a deep range, across one brand or several, let's build a platform that helps people find the right product and walk in ready to buy.
