iOS & Android App
United Soybean
We built the United Soybean Board a native iOS and Android app that puts checkoff news, event schedules, podcasts and farmer-to-farmer networking in every member's pocket.
A single native app, iOS and Android, that consolidates the soy checkoff's news, event calendar, podcast library and recorded meeting replays into one fast, farmer-first interface, with push notifications so nothing important slips past a member in the field.

The Challenge
The United Soybean Board runs the national soybean checkoff, a farmer-funded, congressionally authorized program governed by 77 volunteer farmer-directors that invests in research, promotion and market development for U.S. soy. Its updates, board meetings, podcasts and event schedules lived across email blasts, PDFs and the website.
For farmers who spend their days in a cab or a field, that fragmentation had a cost: missed announcements, late event sign-ups, and recorded meetings nobody could find again. A membership organization is only as strong as its members' attention, and attention was leaking through the cracks between channels.
USB needed one branded home, on the devices farmers actually carry into the field, where checkoff news, event schedules, podcasts and member networking lived together, with push notifications so the things that matter reach members the moment they happen.

One app keeping 77 farmer-directors and thousands of members in sync.

The Approach
We treated the app the way the checkoff treats its research dollars: every feature had to earn its place by serving the farmer-member directly.
One app, every update

We designed and shipped a native iOS and Android app that pulls USB news, the full event calendar, the USB podcast library and recorded meeting replays into a single, fast interface built for the way farmers actually use a phone, quickly, one-handed, often offline-first. Members stopped hunting across email and PDFs and started opening one place that always had the latest.

Notifications that respect the field

We built a push-notification architecture tuned for relevance, not noise, event reminders, board announcements and new-episode alerts that members can trust because they're never spammed. The result is an app farmers keep installed and keep opening, because every ping has earned its interruption.

Member-to-member networking

A built-in member directory and networking layer turns a broadcast channel into a community, letting directors and members connect across state boards instead of waiting for the next in-person meeting.

Members Connected

Within the first season, the large majority of active members had onboarded onto the app, turning a scattered email list into an engaged, always-on audience the checkoff can reach instantly.

Faster Sign-ups

Event registration moved from buried email links to a tap inside the app, cutting the time from announcement to confirmed sign-up dramatically and filling board meetings and field events faster than the old workflow ever could.

Updates in One Place

Nearly all member-facing communication now flows through a single branded channel USB controls end to end.
